Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 May 2025

Plain-English summary: A parent or guardian (18+) must create the account and agrees to these terms. The young person runs their shop under the adult's account. You're responsible for what you sell. We don't take a cut of your sales.

1. About Fledge

Fledge Labs Ltd provides an online platform that enables young people (aged 10–16) to create and operate their own online shop, under the supervision of a parent or guardian. By using Fledge, the account holder agrees to these terms.

2. Eligibility

  • The account holder (parent or guardian) must be 18 or over.
  • The young person operating the shop must have the account holder's permission.
  • You must be resident in the United Kingdom.

3. Your shop

  • You are responsible for all products listed and sold through your shop.
  • Products must be legal, genuine, and accurately described.
  • You must not sell age-restricted goods, unlicensed digital downloads, counterfeit items, or anything illegal.
  • Fledge reserves the right to remove any listing or suspend any shop without notice.

4. Payments and fees

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By selling on Fledge you also agree to Stripe's terms.
  • Fledge charges no platform commission. Stripe's standard processing fees apply to card transactions.
  • You are responsible for accounting for and paying any tax due on your earnings.

5. Consumer rights

As a seller you must comply with UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Buyers have the right to a 14-day return period for distance sales.

6. Personalised experience

Fledge can personalise your dashboard — showing business tips and Challenges tailored to your interests. This requires the account holder to give consent via the in-app prompt. The following applies:

  • Consent is optional. The core service works without it.
  • If you give consent, we store a small profile in your account (see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details).
  • You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy, which permanently deletes your personalisation data.
  • We recommend that account holders discuss personalisation with young people under 13 before consenting on their behalf.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use Fledge to:

  • Publish false, misleading, or defamatory content.
  • Infringe third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
  • Harass, abuse, or harm any other user.

8. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you upload. By publishing it on Fledge you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it for the purposes of operating the service.

9. Limitation of liability

Fledge is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for loss of profits, data, or indirect damages arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Termination

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@getfledge.co.uk.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
