Plain-English summary: We collect the information needed to run your shop and, with your permission, remember your interests to show you better tips and lessons. We never sell your data. You can ask us to delete it any time.
1. Who we are
Fledge Labs Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Fledge service — the website at getfledge.co.uk and the Fledge iOS app. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this service. For any questions, email us at hello@getfledge.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
- Account data — your email address and a password, or your Google account, used to create and sign in to the account. The account is registered by a parent or guardian (18+).
- Shop data — shop name, description, icon, and the products you add.
- Product photos — images you choose to upload for your products. On the iOS app this asks permission to use your photo library or camera. Every image is checked by AI for age-appropriateness before it goes live.
- Order data — buyer name, delivery address, items purchased, and payment status (payments are processed by Stripe, not stored by us).
- Usage data — page visits and shop view counts so you can see how many people are looking at your shop.
- Device data — IP address and device or browser type, collected automatically when you use the service.
- Personalisation profile — only collected with your consent via the in-dashboard prompt:
- Business interests (e.g. food, art, tech)
- Tips you've dismissed
- Lessons you've completed
- Visit count and date of last visit
3. How we use your data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Fledge service.
- To create and secure your account and sign you in (via email and password, or Google).
- To process payments through Stripe (we never store card details).
- To show you aggregated stats about your shop (orders, visits, earnings).
- To personalise your dashboard — showing business tips and lessons relevant to your interests — only if you have given consent.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
- Contract — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for (account, shop, orders).
- Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, security, and aggregate service improvement.
- Consent — personalisation profile data and optional analytics cookies. You (or the account holder) may withdraw consent at any time by visiting Settings or emailing us.
5. Young people and children's privacy
Fledge is designed for young entrepreneurs aged 10–16, operating under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Accounts are intended to be set up by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over, who accepts responsibility for the account and consents to data processing on behalf of their child.
We take our responsibilities under the UK GDPR and the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code) seriously:
- We collect only the minimum data needed for the service to work.
- We do not use children's data for advertising or profiling beyond what is needed to personalise the Fledge experience itself.
- Personalisation features require an explicit in-app consent step. We recommend that young people under 13 check with their parent or guardian before agreeing.
- Parents and guardians can request that all personalisation data is deleted at any time by emailing hello@getfledge.co.uk.
- We do not share children's data with third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Who we share your data with
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, image storage, and hosting infrastructure. Data is stored in the EU.
- Google (Sign-In & Gemini) — optional Google sign-in, and AI moderation of product images and text (no personal data is used to generate game content).
- Vercel — website hosting and edge delivery.
- Apple — distribution of the iOS app via the App Store.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Data retention and deletion
- Account and shop data — kept for as long as your account is active.
- Order records — kept for 7 years for accounting and legal purposes, even if your account is closed.
- Buyer contact data — buyer name, phone number, and email address left at checkout are kept for 90 days after the order date, then deleted.
- Personalisation profile — deleted immediately if you withdraw consent (via Settings), or when you request account deletion.
To request full account and data deletion, email hello@getfledge.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict how we use it, or take your data elsewhere (portability). You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any right, email hello@getfledge.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Cookies
We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Note that your personalisation profile is stored in your Fledge account on our servers — it is not a browser cookie and is not accessible to other websites.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website. The latest version is always available at getfledge.co.uk/legal/privacy.
